Jararudham Gau Abhyaranya
located in Batiyagarh, Damoh district, is a sanctuary dedicated to the welfare and protection of stray cows. Currently providing a safe haven for approximately 2,000 stray cows, the sanctuary aims to reduce road accidents and safeguard farmers’ crops from wandering livestock.
Beyond offering shelter, the sanctuary actively engages with local communities by distributing milk-producing cows to families. Once these cows cease milk production, they are returned to the sanctuary, ensuring a dynamic and sustainable bovine population. This initiative not only supports the livelihoods of rural families but also promotes a culture of shared responsibility in cattle care.
The sanctuary’s infrastructure emphasizes eco-friendly practices, utilizing traditional grass-thatched huts for housing cattle, thereby minimizing environmental impact. In a notable demonstration of commitment, Union Minister Prahlad Singh Patel participated in cleanliness drives and labor contributions at Jararudham, reinforcing the importance of community involvement in maintaining the sanctuary.

जररूधाम गौ अभयारण्य
बटियागढ़, दमोह जिले में स्थित, आवारा गौवंश की सुरक्षा और कल्याण के लिए समर्पित एक आश्रय स्थल है। लगभग 2,000 आवारा गौवंश को सुरक्षित आवास प्रदान करते हुए स्थापित इस अभयारण्य का लक्ष्य सड़क दुर्घटनाओं को कम करना और किसानों की फसलों को आवारा पशुओं से बचाना है।
आश्रय प्रदान करने के अलावा, अभयारण्य स्थानीय समुदायों के साथ सक्रिय रूप से जुड़ता है, परिवारों को दूध देने वाली गायें वितरित करता है। जब ये गायें दूध देना बंद कर देती हैं, तो उन्हें अभयारण्य में वापस लाया जाता है, जिससे एक गतिशील और सतत गौवंश आबादी सुनिश्चित होती है। यह पहल ग्रामीण परिवारों की आजीविका का समर्थन करने के साथ-साथ पशु देखभाल में साझा जिम्मेदारी की संस्कृति को भी बढ़ावा देती है।
